¿Qué son las tectitas?

Tektites are small, natural glasses formed by the melting of sediments and terrestrial rocks caused by the high-speed impact of meteorites on the Earth's surface. They are therefore the result of the interaction between a meteorite and the Earth's surface. In general, four types of tektites are distinguished: microtektites, Muong-nong tektites, spatter tektites, and Australian tektites. Their name "tektite" comes from the Greek word "tektos," meaning "melted," and they are found in areas far from impact sites.
