Marcelo Zurita, president of the Paraíba Astronomy Association (APA); member of the SAB (Brazilian Astronomical Society); technical director of Bramon (Brazilian Meteor Observation Network); and regional coordinator (Northeast) of Asteroid Day Brazil, talks about the coffin maker who sold a piece of meteorite that hit the roof of his house in Indonesia. Josua Hutagalung says that, while working on a commission, a 2.2 kg meteorite hit the corner of his roof. Reports suggest the rock is believed to be approximately 4.5 billion years old. According to The Sun, the rock has already been sold, and the man received the equivalent of 30 years' salary for the item. The rock was purchased by an American collector for study by scientists at the Center for Meteorite Studies at Arizona State University. Josua, who is living in Indonesia, said he will use the money from the discovery to retire and build a church for his community. #Meteorite #OlharEspacial #OlharDigital Follow Olhar Digital on social media!
