Lay Down The Sword - The Story of the Sons of Mosiah

Lay Down the Sword is inspired by the true story of the Sons of Mosiah found in Mosiah 27–28 and Alma 17–26 in the Book of Mormon. Ammon, Aaron, Omner, and Himni were sons of King Mosiah who once fought against the Church and sought to destroy the faith of others. Through the mercy of Jesus Christ and the prayers of the faithful, their hearts were completely changed. When they announced their desire to preach the gospel to the Lamanites, many laughed them to scorn and encouraged them to, "take up the sword" (Alma 26:23), believing the Lamanites could never change. Instead, the Sons of Mosiah trusted in the power of Jesus Christ. Their fourteen-year mission led to the conversion of kings, thousands of souls, and the Anti-Nephi-Lehies, who buried their weapons of war as a covenant of peace. This song teaches how God can change anyone at anytime and that no heart is beyond the reach of God's grace.
