Littlehampton Level Crossing, West Sussex

Official name: Lyminster Level Crossing Date filmed: Tuesday the 4th of March 2025 Videos filmed between 13:29 and 13:49 Route: West Coastway Line Between Littlehampton (LIT) / Ford (FOD) and Angmering (ANG) Stations Crossing type: Manually Controlled Barrier crossing with CCTV (MCB-CCTV) Filming location: A284 (NOW B2284) Lyminster Road, Littlehampton (BN17 7LN) A level crossing located in the Littlehampton suburb of Wick, on what's currently (as of the time of filming) the very busy A284 main road - the prime route into the town from the A27. The route the crossing is on has now been bypassed, as the A284 now runs along the newly-built Lyminster Bypass as of May 2025, with the road the crossing's on now believed to be re-numbered as the B2284. As far as I know, the crossing is to remain open and operational for local traffic. Despite being in Littlehampton, and at the site of the original Littlehampton Station before the branch line to the current station was opened, the crossing takes its name from the tiny village of Lyminster just up the road, when in actual fact it is actually in Littlehampton, albeit just over a mile from the centre of the seaside town, at least for all practical purposes. All four barriers seemed practically brand-new at the time of filming and had only recently been commissioned, though you could be forgiven for thinking they won't last massively long in such a pristine condition. All four wigwags are higher up than most here, and the LED variants date back to 2021. I gathered loads of footage here when the crossing still had its original 1990 'halogen' variants.
