Onde a nossa vida pulsa - O valor das unidades de conservação para a sociedade brasileira

This video inspires a desire to preserve Brazil's natural paradise for present and future generations. The biological, cultural, and social richness is strategic for Brazil. We all benefit from nature's resources. We gain from climate regulation in cities, fertile soils, and insects that pollinate crops and contribute to food production. Conservation units mean survival for urban centers. Federal conservation units alone, for example, receive more than ten million visits annually, generating over 40,000 jobs and R$ 1.5 billion in income for surrounding communities. For every real the government invests in conservation units, seven reais in economic benefits are generated in these regions. Produced by the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio) and the Ministry of the Environment (MMA) in 2018, this video was supported by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) within the framework of the International Climate Initiative (IKI). The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH promotes technical cooperation in the context of the projects “Biodiversity Conservation through the Integration of Ecosystem Services in Public Policies and Business Action – TEEB Regional-Local” and “Consolidation of the National System of Conservation Units (SNUC) – LifeWeb”.
