This video is all about allowing myself be bad at something new (in this case, plein air landscape painting) in order to try it. Being okay with trying something that I don't know how to do, gave me a sense of adventure and playfulness that comes from having a beginner mind. Time stamps below if you’d like to jump to the collage portion. 02:30 Painting begins 16:07 Adding collage to paintings I begin this video by painting 6 quick, landscape-inspired paintings in my backyard, inspired by landscape artist Lewis Noble (‪@LewisNobleArtist‬ & https://www.lewisnoble.co.uk/). I haven't painted outside in DECADES so it was a fun (& vulnerable!) experience. Most of the results felt very different than my usual style, which makes sense because I was trying a new way of painting and a new color palette. After the paint dried, I brought them inside and decided to add collage to a couple of them to see how I could bring more of my personal aesthetic into a finished piece. This video captures the entire, beginning-to-end, experimental process.
