How Nuclear Fission Was Discovered
Support me on Patreon: patreon.com/RationalThinker Since the discovery of the neutron by James Chadwick in 1932, neutron bombardment became a hot topic of study in nuclear physics. After working their way up the periodic table, bombarding each element with neutrons to see what happens, they came to an interesting behavior when bombarding uranium. This was interpreted in different ways by different scientists, including Enrico Fermi, and ultimately led to a discovery in 1938 by Otto Hahn, Lise Meitner, Fritz Strassmann, and Otto Frisch that would forever change the course of human history.
