The formula for calculating the principal is: M = C * (1 + i)^t, where C is the principal, i is the interest rate, and t is time. An example with €1,500 invested for 3 years at 10% shows that, with compounding, the final principal is €1,996.50, higher than the €1,950 obtained with simple compounding. This occurs because interest accrued in previous years earns additional interest, resulting in exponential growth. When calculating the interest rate to reach a specific principal, a lower rate than with simple compounding is sufficient, as the interest already accrued contributes to the growth of the principal. *** LGEducation is the first company specialized in preparing for your Economics and Finance exam, 100% online.
