In contrast to compound interest, in which accrued interest is added to the principal to produce additional earnings, in simple capitalization, interest is calculated only on the initial principal. The formula for calculating the final amount is: M = C × (1 + i × t) where M is the final amount, C is the initial principal, i is the annual interest rate, and t is the time in years. Through practical examples, we will see how to apply the formula to calculate the final amount or interest rate based on an initial principal and an investment period. The lesson also provides a detailed exercise in which the interest rate is calculated based on the final amount and the investment period. *** LGEducation is the first company specialized in preparing for your Economics and Finance exam, 100% online.
