The Yamaguchi Prefectural High School Badminton Championships, a competition to determine who will compete in the Summer Inter-High School Championships, were held in Shimonoseki City. In the girls' division, Yanai Shoko High School, the reigning champions with 11 consecutive spring and summer national titles, won the championship and secured their place in the Inter-High School Championships. Due to school reorganization and consolidation, Yanai Shoko High School did not have any new students this year. For this tournament, they competed as a combined team including first-year students from Yanai High School, aiming for a ticket to the national championships with this new structure. Their opponent in the final was Sakuragaoka High School. In the team competition, which was held simultaneously on three courts, the second and third-year students first won their singles and doubles matches, putting them one win away from victory. Then, the fate of the team rested on the first-year pair of Okimoto and Matsumura, both from Yanai Junior High School. Despite struggling against the fierce attacks of the opposing third-year pair, they fought tenaciously and achieved a magnificent victory, bringing the team the championship and a place in the Inter-High School Championships. After the match, Yanai Shoko captain Riko Nakazawa expressed her enthusiasm, saying, "We're practicing in a great atmosphere, so we want to further improve our level in the remaining two months and do our best to achieve our 12th consecutive victory." Meanwhile, in the boys' competition, Noda Gakuen won the championship for the first time in 30 years, securing their place in the Inter-High School Championships.
