I Found The Grave Behind A Forgotten George Washington Legend

In this video, we visit the grave of Reverend John Gano in Frankfort Cemetery in Frankfort, Kentucky. John Gano was an early Baptist preacher, a Revolutionary War chaplain, and a man whose name has been connected for generations to one of the most debated faith stories involving George Washington. According to an old tradition, Gano may have baptized George Washington by immersion during the Revolutionary War. Some believe the story happened. Others say the evidence is too thin. But whether it is fact, legend, or somewhere in between, the man at the center of the story was very real. Reverend John Gano preached before America was a country, served during the Revolution, helped shape early Baptist history, and later came west to Kentucky. Today, his grave is part of one of Kentucky’s most historic cemeteries. Join me as we visit the grave behind a forgotten George Washington legend.
