The Sisal Rope Tree Finale (Scenery Sunday 4)

In this final video of the sisal rope tree, I cover bark texture using fiber paste for the trunk, as well as painting and leaf cover. The OC&RG is a freelance HOn3 model railroad (1:87 scale, 3-foot narrow gauge) inspired by the Colorado Midland and other early Colorado railroads. This is a “progress under construction” channel, not a “how-to” channel. Thank you for your interest and support! Layout details Scale: HOn3 (1:87 scale, 3-foot narrow gauge), with some standard HO dual-gauge track. Design: Single-deck, point-to-point layout with reverse loops, built around the walls with one peninsula, and what I call a “nolix.” Design inspiration: John Allen, Harry Brunk, and Malcolm Furlow. Location: Inspired by the Colorado Midland between Leadville, CO, and Basalt, CO—about 61 miles over the Continental Divide. Multiple Colorado narrow-gauge railroads provide inspiration. Era: Late 1930s to early 1940s, late spring to early summer. No hard date has been decided. Style: Prototype-inspired. Consider the OC&RG a “what if” railroad based on a different set of conditions and variables regarding the Colorado Midland. Size: Roughly 26' x 28". Construction: Mostly L-girder with Masonite spline between locations. Materials: 3/4" plywood benchwork ripped into 1x4s, with a 1/2" plywood base for locations. The spline consists of five pieces of 1/4" Masonite ripped to a width of 1 3/4", laminated together. This creates natural easements and flowing curves. Track: Micro Engineering Code 70 mainline, with some Code 55 for spurs. Minimum mainline radius: I did my best to keep this at 20". There are a couple of spots with 18" radii, kept as short as possible. Lighting: Not there yet. I’m still not sure. Operating system: DCC Digitrax for the trains, LCC for the layout. He cut a demo of the song with me, and later produced “Dancin’” in a professional studio. The version you hear on my channel features Dan on vocals and acoustic guitar.
