Overcoming Gardner engine start problem on MV Wearmouth

After many setbacks we finally succeed in getting the engine started again! The starter motor theory may have contributed to the problem, but it turned out to be the engine cutoff function between the two injector pumps was slightly seized resulting in the injection high pressure side effectively being disengaged! Hopefully we can progress with testing the sea water cooling system, temperature control and several other things. The reconditioned alternator is now fitted, just requiring testing for output. The wheelhouse frames are long overdue, mainly due to major repurposing our Church Street workshop which has been a major job. The mammoth task of de-caulking the hull continues, as does the constant battle against the elements with the canopy now having a reinforced canvas tarpaulin cover supported by plywood sheets. Work is progressing slowly, but then we are all volunteers mostly retired of pension age and above, generally working between one and three 4-5 hour days per week.
