Build Your First Self Bow, Part 7 (Shaping the Handle and Tips)
Welcome to my beginner's bow building series! I'm going to take you step by step through the process of building your first self bow. I will be using a clean straight hickory stave and making a simple American flatbow design. I will carefully explain each step of the process and share as much useful advice as I can along the way. In this video I'm taking a short break from tillering to refine the shape of the handle and the tips. I like to do this before I'm totally done with the tillering so that there aren't any surprises at the last minute. I show how to make a comfortable and aesthetically pleasing handle and how to make sleek, refined tips with self nocks.
