Inhaler powder accumulates in the lungs?

Does the powder from inhalers build up in the lungs over time? There are a few reasons as to why this is not the case. First, there are extensive studies before human trials to confirm that the powder formulation used does not accumulate in the lungs, and if that is the case, usually the formulation is changed before progressing with the inhaler development. Secondly, throughout our lives we inhale a huge amount of particles from various sources (pollution, dusts from building work, house dust etc. ) and our airways can clear it out.
