SUPER UNIQUE Rotary Hydraulic Freight Elevator at McCone Hall, UC Berkeley in Berkeley, CA.
Video Recorded on January 14, 2026: For something to include for Cinco de Mayo, this elevator is one thriving kind of a uniqueness! I have NEVER seen a freight elevator door (including the cab gate) that opens down Ward. The top floor has the hoist to door that opens downward while the bottom floor is just a regular standard bi-parting hoistway door. I’ve wanting to see this for I don’t even know how many years here at university of California at Berkeley! Installed in the 1950’s.
