Does the Back Draw from GHOST OF YŌTEI Work in REAL LIFE?

Regardless of how you feel about realism in video games, this is not only a convincing but also visually appealing and interesting animation. Drawing anything but a short sword from the back is practically awkward in many ways, and game designers usually "cheat" by making blades clip through scabbards. The animator(s) in Ghost of Yotei on the other hand paid extra attention to detail and figured out a way to make it look plausible. So... is it?
