Winning gold at the African Championships in Ghana was one of the greatest moments of my athletic career. I returned to Cameroon grateful to God, motivated, and ready for the next phase of training. But what happened next caught me completely off guard. For 7 of the 10 days I was home, my apartment had no electricity. At the same time, I was dealing with a rat infestation that disrupted my sleep almost every night. What seemed like small problems quickly turned into fatigue, stress, and challenges that affected my recovery, training, and performance.
