The Cost of Getting Outside Is Out of Control
I thought we were just getting back to another Tahoe hiking season. Before we ever hit the trail, it turned into a lot more work than I expected. Last year, the kids and I hiked 105 miles of the Tahoe Rim Trail, so this summer I thought we were just picking up where we left off. But getting a family back into the mountains is never as simple as wanting to go. Gear needed replacing, the kids had outgrown things, the costs added up, and the timing was harder than it looked. This video is about the part of outdoor life people don’t always see: the prep, the logistics, and the reality of building a family adventure life around kids, work, school, and everything else that fills the calendar. Once we finally got on trail, the whole thing made more sense. If you’ve ever tried to hike, camp, or backpack with kids, you already know the real challenge usually starts before the trailhead. If that’s your thing, subscribe and follow along as we keep working our way around the Tahoe Rim Trail. 00:00 Getting Back to the Trail 01:13 Preparing for Hiking Season 01:50 Why Family Hiking Gets Expensive 03:13 Hiking With Kids Isn't Always Easy 05:33 Returning After Back Surgery 06:03 Building an Outdoor Life With Kids 08:17 Finally Back on the Tahoe Rim Trail 08:40 Why Hiking Together Is Worth It 09:18 The Start of Another Tahoe Adventure #TahoeRimTrail #FamilyHiking #OutdoorLife
