It's a mountain that's easily visible from the town of Chichibu and is like a symbol of Chichibu. Its unique shape is due to limestone mining, but it has also been known as a sacred mountain since ancient times. ◆About Mount Bukō◆ ⛰️A representative peak of Chichibu⛰️ A mountain beloved as a symbol of the Chichibu Basin. It has also been known as a sacred mountain since ancient times, and the Ontake Shrine is enshrined at the summit. 🌲A quiet hiking trail through a cedar forest🌲 Much of the hiking trail goes through a cedar forest. It's a pleasant path where you can walk through the dappled sunlight. 🏔️A grand view of the Chichibu Basin🏔️ From the summit, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Chichibu city. You can also enjoy the scenery that stretches to the mountains of Okuchichibu and the mountain ranges of the Kanto region. [The Mountain Watching Over Chichibu] Mt. Bukō is 1,304m high. From the trailhead to the summit, it's a popular mountain offering a challenging and rewarding climb. The route we took this time is the trail also known as the Omotesando (main approach). Starting from the first torii gate, the trail slowly ascends through a cedar forest, with stone monuments and shrines scattered along the way that evoke the history of Mt. Bukō. The trail is relatively easy to walk, but it's a continuous uphill climb, gradually draining your energy. Nevertheless, standing at the summit, you're rewarded with a panoramic view of Chichibu!
