Wild Fish Tank: Diamondfish in the Cabbage Tree Bay Aquatic Reserve
Also known as butterfish and silver batfish, the Diamondfish (Monodactylus argenteus) is often seen in large schools near Fairy Bower in the Cabbage Tree Bay Aquatic Reserve. This is the first in a series featuring footage of fishes in the aquatic reserve; a popular location for snorkeling and diving near Manly on Sydney's Northern Beaches. These videos will give people a chance to briefly immerse themselves in the underwater worlds of Shelly Beach and Cabbage Tree Bay. The sound is the original sound from the video so viewers can appreciate the variety of cracks, pops and other sounds that are very much a part of the underwater world. Video © Greg Wallis 2026
