LonaRPG - Meryme Boss Fight in 1 second

LonaRPG Playlist:    • LonaRPG   ---------- This fight is the conclusion of Cocona's questline, where Meryme wants to test whether Lona is strong enough to be entrusted with Cocona to leave the island together. At the start, she is just the usual Boss Mama you see in the tavern. Notably she would hop around and has a charged 3-hit combo. While she is kinda tanky, she isn't particularly difficult to defeat with the usual combat methods. (e.g. stun into charged attack) When defeated, she actually enters a 2nd phase. This is arguably the most difficult fight in the entire game. She still hops around, but now has a invincible dodge move, and can slash across the whole screen in an instant. Most importantly, she is IMMUNE to stun, so many usual strategies no longer work. (The hardest part is censoring her portraits) Oh and you can ignore all I've just said if you bring landmines. ---------- There are 3 outcomes in this fight: 1. You win, so you get a cool Katana alongside the promised ticket for Cocona 2. You lose, so your 20 Gold Coins are gone for good, but you still get the ship ticket 3. You lose AFTER having sold Cocona's body prior, then Lona actually just dies Interestingly, "dying" during the 1st phase would simply kick Lona out (at 10 HP and 1 STA), where you can retry the fight later and would never result in a Game Over. ---------- Let me go over the strategies here briefly. For the 1st phase, you can fight her the same way you do Orcs. My strategy goes like this - Stun her from a distance (e.g. Whip or Fire Spell Book), and charge up your powerful hit (e.g. Enhanced Dagger or Fire Staff) at no risk. You can repeat this until entering the 2nd phase of course. Alternatively, you can stun-lock her with the Dagger fast attacks during 1st phase. As for 2nd phase, the only reliable strategies I find are "face-tanking" and "spamming summons". For physical build, the False God Slayer is probably the best due to its uninterruptible attacks. You'll likely need Red Potions to cure the injury debuffs, and I think you need to invest some points into Combat as well. I actually tried ranged options, but Meryme walks too fast for you to land enough hits consistently. For magician build, you want to avoid attacking directly so to not draw aggro at all. Basically just rely on Abomination Totem to summon tentacles around Meryme. Replenish another in its place if one dies, and eventually Meryme would run out of HP, while you just keep casting at basically no risk. (So basically the summoner build, but without needing Rebirth) Berserk Medicine works wonders as well, regardless of build. Your attacks won't be interrupted, and you would be dealing around 100 damage per punch, so the fight would be over very fast. Not that there isn't any boss more difficult than Meryme either, unless you want to keep the rare medicine as a trophy item like I do. Or you can just use Frag Mines.
