Today, I spent a fascinating couple of hours on @festrail from Caernarfon to Waunfawr for the Rail Ale Weekend. It runs from today until Sunday. Trains from Caernarfon run every 30 minutes and, get this, £10 gets you an all day ticket! Alight at Waunfawr and enjoy a pint, or several, at the Snowdonia Parc pub. (There's a micro brewery there!) Scenery on the journey is impressive but the memories are more so. I met Cedric Lodge and we chatted for half an hour. A great ambassador for the railway. From 3pm until 11pm, the pub has a range of entertainments, and, get this, the last train from Caernarfon to Waunfawr today and tomorrow is 21.05. This event seems to cater for everything. Yes, it's a diesel engine doing the hard work but sit back, relax and enjoy life. I used my Go Pro thingy and am still trying to download the videos. I met Cedric Lodge who is a lovely fella, and an original of the railway. If you're in North Wales, pop in.
