June 21 2026 Sermon, "Walking in God's Holiness", Psalm 5

Psalm 5 is a prayer that begins in urgency and ends in confidence. David cries out to God in the morning, bringing his groaning, his fears, and the weight of opposition before the Lord. He is surrounded by evildoers—those who speak deceit, delight in wickedness, and resist God’s ways. Yet the psalmist does not respond with revenge or despair; he brings everything into God’s presence. The turning point of the psalm is trust. David recognizes that God does not take pleasure in wickedness, and that evil will not ultimately stand before Him. The psalm closes with a powerful reversal: sorrow is not the end of the story. Those who trust in the Lord are not only protected—they are also filled with joy. God has a way of taking what wounds us and transforming it into worship. The pain caused by evildoers does not get the final word; God does. And in His presence, even seasons of opposition can become songs of praise. The message of Psalm 5 is clear: bring your burdens to God early, trust Him in the midst of the storm, and expect that He is able not only to overcome evil, but to turn your pain into praise.
