Chooky Dancers - Zorba the Greek Mornington Island Festival 20-22 September 2013 The Chooky Dancers come from Elcho Island, North East Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory. Famous for their performance of Zorba the Greek, not one of the Chooky Dancers owns a computer. But their foot-shuffling, pelvis-thrusting moves have made them internet stars. The Mornington Island Festival began around 30 years ago as a way to restore culture and conduct ceremony and connect with other Gulf communities. This makes it one of the oldest -- if not THE -- oldest indigenous Festival in Australia.
