Dust rising beneath bare feet. Ochre on skin. The sound of clapsticks cutting through open air. Elders watching from the shade. Children studying the choreography like inheritance being transferred in real time. No explanatory voiceover. The story is carried through movement, sound, and presence. _____________________________________________________________________________________________ The Laura Aboriginal Dance Festival is one of Australia’s most significant Indigenous cultural gatherings, held biennially near Laura in far north Queensland.
