Finding Comfort in the Small Things

Spent the day recharging my introvert batteries with a chill solo vlog instead of diving into a huge wrenching project. I’m still getting over being sick, so I kept things light but still made time for my cars, some good food, skating, and a thrift haul. I start the morning with my 1991 Nissan 240SX, trying to finally fix my fuel gauge that’s been stuck around half no matter how much gas I put in it. I replaced the fuel hanger, swapped in a new AEM fuel pump, and hoped the level sensor was the culprit… and for a minute it seemed like the gauge was actually moving again! I filled the tank, talked about the Roadtrip Lite app I use to track MPG, and grabbed lunch at a local Chinese spot I’ve passed a million times. But of course — one fix leads to another problem. After driving home, I smelled fuel and saw the new hanger leaking from the top wire. So the 240 is parked for now. To reset, I take my Nissan Cedric out and hit one of my favorite places: the thrift store. I grew up thrifting and it’s still my comfort place. I found some fun knick knacks, a little truck model car, and somehow ended up buying a battery-powered fountain. With just a few hours of daylight left, I grabbed my skateboard and went to the local DIY skatepark to practice kick turns, bigger ramps, and get my ollies dialed. Skated until the sun went down, then headed home to cook a quick dinner and watch a movie.
