Ask and You Will Know

Before he sealed up the record and hid it in the earth, Moroni left a promise for everyone who would ever read it. He exhorted them: when you receive these things, remember how merciful the Lord has been, and then ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if they are not true. Ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ. And he promised that God would manifest the truth of it unto them by the power of the Holy Ghost. It is one of the boldest invitations ever written, the last prophet of a fallen people telling a reader he would never meet that the truth of it all was theirs to know for themselves, if only they would ask.
