The first record of a church dedicated to Saint Agatha dates back to the 13th century, listed among the chapels of Dervio. The village of Tremenico (Lecco) had sprung up near the famous water spring, which led it to develop more than the other villages. The church was the only one in Valvarrone (Italy) to obtain the title of parish, on 4 June 1367. The parish church was completely rebuilt in 1596, preserving part of the ancient temple for several decades. In the mid-seventeenth century, the façade was rebuilt, as well as the high bell tower, the height of which reached the floor below the current belfry. The church could be said to be complete in 1665. One of the two original bells was recast in 1698, and in the 18th century the concert became three bells. The walls and vaults of the church were decorated from 1854, while in 1878 the presbytery was demolished to enlarge the building. The bell tower was restored at the end of the 19th century, reaching its present height with the addition of the top part. The bells were lowered from the tower and delivered to the Pruneri foundry for bronze recovery, except for the oldest of the three. In 1892, Giorgio Pruneri created a beautiful concert of three bells in the scale of E flat major, with a total weight of 2092 kg. Eight years later, the faithful spontaneously taxed themselves to donate two more Pruneri bells to their church, bringing the concert to five bells.
