Moro (Viktor Tsoi) is a young man struggling for money, and constantly on the move for a place to live. He finds himself in Alma-Ata to seek help from his ex-girlfriend, Dina - it's in this Kazakh city where he finds his next adventure in fighting a drug addiction she came under while with another man. Moro sets out on his goal to find out who's responsible, as well as restore his relationship with Dina and protect her from harm's way. "Igla" (The Needle) is one of the most popular films in post-Soviet countries, no doubt thanks to the legendary Kino frontman taking the lead role, and several moments and scenes that represented rapid changes in the era of perestroika and consequences of Soviet rule.
