Starting as a modest 500sqft building, the department underwent a significant expansion in 2014, doubling its original size. Led by the passionate Lieutenant Joshua Jennings, the Evington Volunteer Fire Department stands out as one of the few remaining ALL volunteer fire departments. Not only do they respond to fire calls, but they also operate an EMS responder unit, ensuring comprehensive emergency services for their community. Nestled in the heart of Campbell County, VA, just 15 miles south of Liberty University, the station boasts impressive facilities. From offices for line officers to a spacious community room and a cozy crew area, it feels like a second home. The large apparatus bay houses an array of essential vehicles including engines, tankers, rescues, and even a hazmat trailer. Situated on approximately 2 acres of land, the department has ambitious plans for expansion, including a state-of-the-art training facility. Additionally, they operate a small substation for added support, housing another engine to cover their extensive service area. We were honored to be hosted by Josh and the department, not only for Station Cribs but also for two Station Rigs episodes and a thrilling ride-along. Spending the night at the station provided a genuine insight into the volunteer experience, and we were impressed by their kindness, camaraderie, and top-notch equipment.
