How different are the actual water temperatures in famous valleys during the height of summer compared to less-visited, hidden valleys? According to a survey of 22 mountain valleys across the country conducted by the National Institute of Forest Science, the average water temperature in July and August was found to be approximately 18.1 degrees Celsius. This figure is about 7.1 degrees lower than the average air temperature during the same period. However, not all valleys are 18 degrees. The lower reaches of famous valleys, close to roads and parking lots, range from roughly 20 to 24 degrees; the densely forested upper reaches range from about 16 to 20 degrees; and small tributaries at higher elevations or areas fed by springs can drop to as low as 12 to 18 degrees. This video provides an easy-to-understand explanation of how a valley's elevation, water depth, flow rate, forest shade, time of day, and changes following rainfall affect water temperature. In addition, we have compiled a detailed guide covering the sequence of steps travelers in their 50s and 60s must follow when entering cold water, the reasons to avoid entering the water immediately after hiking, the pros and cons of famous and hidden valleys, essential items for a valley trip, and accident prevention methods. Valley water temperatures vary significantly depending on the time and weather, even within the same location. The temperatures presented in the video represent a general estimate; therefore, please be sure to verify the current, depth, water temperature, and whether entry is permitted on-site. Do not enter the valley if a heavy rain warning has been issued or if dark clouds are visible upstream. In national parks, you must use only permitted hiking trails and designated temporary valley access sections. Please subscribe and like this video, and we will continue to provide safe and practical domestic travel information for those in their 50s and 60s. The Better Travel Korea Good News GNTV
