Gabriella Caramore | DOVE NASCONO LE STORIE. Brevi interviste sull’immaginario femminile

We live immersed in stories. From the fictional tales we read in books, watch in theaters, or on screen, to the stories of sex, blood, money, and war we hear about in the news. From the exploits of athletes to the stories posted on social media: wherever there's a human being, there's a story. The ways and means of telling them vary, but at the root of every narrative is always the innate need to be nourished by stories. Eight interviews conducted by Caterina Soffici for Dialoghi di Pistoia 2022, directed by Giulia Cogoli. Eight women (intellectuals, writers, artists) who create and share stories share their stories, discuss the origins of their imagination, where and how their narratives and creative journeys are born, and whether and to what extent they are influenced by their experiences and culture. Everything is changing rapidly, and while in the past women even had to conceal their identity and pose as men to access the sacred world of storytelling, today, when they can express themselves freely, the question remains as to whether or not female storytelling exists. And if so, in what forms does it manifest itself? Are there profound patterns underlying the approach to creating a work of fiction? Gabriella Caramore taught Religions and Communication at Sapienza University. She is the author of several essays and, for 25 years, from 1993 to 2018, edited the religious culture program "Uomini e Profeti" on Rai Radio3.
