Luigina Mortari | Avere "cura" della vita

We are all called to care for life, and this ethical task is achieved first and foremost in the search for wisdom in living. Human beings are called to care for their being, which is why care represents our fundamental existential trait. Caring for life means caring for what we are, a being with a body, but the body is not mere matter; we are a body with a soul. Caring for human life, therefore, means caring for the body, while caring for the soul. When caring for the body does not proceed in harmony with caring for the soul, it risks losing its meaning. Caring for the soul means finding those spiritual practices in which human beings feel they are breathing time, according to their striving for the future. Philosopher Luigina Mortari explains how care can be defined as the work of living and existing.
