The Legendary Georgetown Loop Railroad - Steam in the Rocky Mountains

After visiting the Black Hills Central and Cumbres & Toltec Scenic on my summer 2025 trip, it was time to head back home, but not without one more stop. While heading back into Denver, I stopped to spend half a day at the Georgetown Loop Railroad right off the I-70 mountain corridor. I took the opportunity to video the train from the scenic overlook off I-70 and made sure to ride the train as well. The setting of the Georgetown Loop is stunning! Nestled within the Rocky Mountain landscape, the locomotives work hard up a nearly 4% grade between two old mining towns. They also feature opportunities to get off the train and explore. Enjoy!
