SNOWDON, Yr Wyddfa- up the PYG down the MINERS, quickest route up Snowdon
Join us on an unforgettable hike to the summit of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) — Wales’ highest mountain — as we climb via the Pyg Track and descend the Miners’ Track from Pen y Pass. This route is one of the best and most achievable ways for beginners to reach the top of Snowdon, and in this video, I’ll show you exactly why. From around 400 metres up, me and Naoko are treated to one of the most incredible sights in Eryri — a full cloud inversion blanketing North Wales, with only the tallest peaks breaking through the sea of mist. It’s a rare natural phenomenon, and it transforms the whole mountain into something magical. Along the way, I’ll explain why the Pyg Track makes a brilliant ascent route (less stressful, better views, and easier to follow than it looks!) and why the Miners’ Track is the perfect way down. We’ll also: 🏔 Learn a few Welsh words and explore the legend of Rhita Gawr — the giant said to be buried beneath the summit cairn, which gives Yr Wyddfa its name. 🚞 Watch the Snowdon Mountain Railway emerge dramatically from the clouds near the summit. ☕ Visit the summit café and share an honest verdict on whether it’s worth it. ⛏ Discover remnants of Snowdon’s rich mining history, from ruins to old shafts, on the way down. 💬 Talk about men’s mental health, mountain safety, and what to expect when hiking in late autumn or early winter conditions. Whether you’re planning your first Snowdon hike, looking for beginner-friendly trails, or just love the magic of Eryri, this video will give you confidence, inspiration, and practical tips to help you make it to the top safely. 🧭 Useful Info Start Point: Pen y Pass Car Park (pre-bookable via JustPark or accessible by Sherpa Bus) Ascent: Pyg Track Descent: Miners’ Track Difficulty: Moderate / Non-technical Time: Approx. 5–6 hours 💚 Watch Next 🎬 Cadair Idris - How easy is it? • Cadair Idris Minffordd Path- How easy is it? ] 📍 Subscribe for more adventures around Snowdonia, Welsh legends & mental health in the mountains 🌐 Useful Links & Resources 🏞️ Snowdonia National Park (Eryri) – Official Site Find route guides, safety advice, and updates direct from the park authority: 👉 https://www.eryri.llyw.cymru 🚞 Snowdon Mountain Railway Check train times, summit café info, and live webcams before your hike: 👉 https://www.snowdonrailway.co.uk 💛 Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) Taking a stand against suicide and supporting men’s mental health: 👉 https://www.thecalmzone.net 💬 Andy’s Man Club Free peer-to-peer support groups for men across the UK – It’s okay to talk. 👉 https://andysmanclub.co.uk 🥾 Mountain Equipment Trusted outdoor clothing and gear designed for serious mountain days: 👉 https://www.mountain-equipment.co.uk #YrWyddfa #Snowdon #PygTrack #MinersTrack #Snowdonia #Eryri #HikingWales #WalesHiking #CloudInversion #WelshMyths #RhitaGawr #SnowdonMountainRailway #MensMentalHealth #HikingForBeginners #PenYPass #WelshLanguage #MountainSafety #HikingCouple #RightNicePlaces
