We're finally enjoying some beautiful spring days here in Alberta, Canada. Around these parts, spring is a season of extremes—we can have snowstorms or we can have warm days where you forget it's not summer yet. These past few weeks, we've had days of blue skies and warmth, so we took advantage of the opportunity to go for a walk. In this video, we're going to share a trip we took to visit a lake, hike in the mountains, and have a picnic. And as you'll see in the video, Samuel's parents are visiting! They came to visit us for a few weeks and meet their first granddaughter. This has also motivated us to go out for walks almost every day and show them different towns and parks. We're also going to show you other projects we've been doing, such as changing snow tires to summer tires, setting up patio furniture so we can enjoy the beautiful summer days, and other work that needs to be done on a rural property. ✨🌲 A DAY IN THE CANADIAN MOUNTAINS | Nature, Family, and Classic Cars 🚗🏞️ 🐾 Family Walk in the Forest 🌳 We started the day with an adventure in the Canadian wilderness, enjoying the forest, mountains, and a spectacular lake. We were joined by the whole family: my in-laws, visiting from New Brunswick, my parents, and, of course, Togo, our dog, who couldn't contain his excitement as he explored. We enjoyed a peaceful hike with the beautiful Crow's Nest Mountain as a backdrop. We debuted a special backpack for Aurelia, our baby, perfect for exploring rugged trails—a great purchase we made on Facebook Marketplace. During the hike, we noticed the drought affecting the lake, noticing a significant decrease in its water level, a sign of the climate change affecting this region. ⚠️ Wildlife Precautions 🐻 Since we are in wilderness territory, we always remember to carry a whistle and pepper spray to avoid dangerous encounters with bears and pumas. We hiked in a group, making noise, an effective and safe measure, and we kept Togo on a long leash to avoid disturbing other visitors or conflicts with other dogs we encountered along the way. 🍔 Lunch with Spectacular Views 🥗 After the hike, we had lunch at a Golf Club restaurant, enjoying typical dishes such as fish and chips, full-size burgers, and local beers. The restaurant offered incredible views of the mountains and the surrounding landscape. We enjoyed the meal as a family and shared a very pleasant time with excellent service and reasonable prices, which made the experience even more special. 🚗 Unexpected Encounter: Classic Antique Cars 🚙 Leaving the restaurant, we were pleasantly surprised to find a display of classic cars from the last century, including stunning models like 1928 and 1931 Fords, and even a historic fire truck. We discussed the incredible difficulty of driving these vehicles in Canadian winter conditions, highlighting the beauty and craftsmanship of these vintage cars. A lovely surprise that made our day even more memorable. 🔧 Homework: Tires and Vehicle Maintenance 🚘 Back at home, we spent time on important tasks: changing from winter tires to regular (all-season) tires, highlighting the importance of this practice for safety in extreme weather. We also replaced worn windshield wipers and explained a specific mechanical issue with the Chevrolet Equinox engine, installing a special cap that prevents damage from excessive internal pressure. However, these jobs require effort and patience. 🌷 Garden and Property Improvements 🏡 Daniel shows off his progress on a gardening and landscaping project, building natural barriers with recycled logs to prevent gravel and soil from sliding. He also plants new flowers and protects young trees from deer with special netting. He highlights his ongoing efforts to beautify the property using sustainable methods, taking advantage of natural materials available in the area, and promoting a safe environment for his grandchildren, who now enjoy riding their bikes around the property. 🏠 Home and Roof Repairs 🛠️ To conclude the day, he shares plans for upcoming projects, including essential repairs to the home's metal roof. He explains in detail how he plans to repair loose bolts using effective home repair methods, ensuring the home remains in optimal condition before the work becomes too physically demanding.
