Good morning from Vancouver, the capital of the province of British Columbia in Canada! In today's video, we're going to take you on a tour of this beautiful city located on Canada's Pacific coast, between the Strait of Georgia and the Coast Mountains. The challenge is that we only have 24 hours in Vancouver, so we're going to try to cover as much as possible. We're going to visit Gastown, the oldest neighborhood in the city, tour Vancouver Harbor by boat, walk through Stanley Park in search of totem poles, and much more. Throughout our day in Vancouver, we're also going to share a bit of history and some first impressions of the city. Now, the big question: why are we in Vancouver? To begin our trip to Alaska! Welcome to our family adventure video in Vancouver, Canada. Join us for a full day exploring this fascinating city with Baby Aurelia, exploring must-see attractions, using public transportation, and enjoying incredible scenery before embarking on our journey to Alaska. 🚆 Arriving in Downtown Vancouver Our trip began in the Richmond neighborhood, where we took the SkyTrain to the Waterfront, the heart of downtown Vancouver. A peculiar experience on the automated train: a rather bumpy ride that almost made us "throw up" (vomit) for the first time on the subway, something totally unexpected. There were extensive security cameras at the stations, ensuring the automated system was working properly. Transit Cost: We purchased an unlimited day pass for trains and the SeaBus (ferry). 🕰️ The Steam Clock in Gastown We waited for the famous melody of the iconic Gastown steam clock, which has been connected to the steam network that has heated the area since 1977. The clock offers a sound show every 15 minutes, evoking old steam railway whistles. ⛴️ Crossing to Lonsdale Quay on the SeaBus With our day pass, we took the SeaBus, enjoying beautiful views of the bay, cruise ships, and mountains, although our goal was more recreational than practical. 🏙️ Vancouver Fun Facts: What You Should Know Vancouver, world-famous for its natural beauty and high quality of life, is also one of the cities with the highest real estate prices in the world. It has a moderate climate, with abundant rainfall most of the year, making the vegetation lush, almost subtropical. Known as the "Hollywood of the North" for its strong film industry. High Asian population: especially noticeable in Richmond, where most signs are in English and Chinese. 🍟 Lunching on Fish and Chips at the Harbor We enjoyed a classic fish and chips in front of the third largest harbor in North America. Price: 24 CAD (approximately 16 USD). Recharged with energy to continue exploring throughout the day. 🌳 Exploring Stanley Park: Marina, Totem Poles, and Blackberry Bush Stanley Park is one of the largest and most visited urban parks in the world (400 hectares, more than 8 million visitors annually). We toured the marina, saw incredible yachts, and visited the famous Totem Poles, symbols of Indigenous cultures. Surprisingly, we found blackberry bush, an invasive plant we know well from our property in Córdoba, Argentina. Incredible find! 🌉 Stunning Views from Stanley Park We enjoyed panoramic views of the iconic Lions Gate Bridge and surrounding hill and mountain neighborhoods. 🌧️ Important Tips for Families with Babies Vancouver is rainy: plan transportation on wet days (the weather changes quickly). Uber does not allow infants without a specific car seat; taxis and hotel shuttles do. Hotels offer special services for transportation to ports and terminals; always ask at the front desk. 🛳️ Departing for Alaska: Next Adventure We ended our day preparing to board a cruise to Alaska.
