Building Betsy - Ep.13 | DIY Expedition Vehicle Light-Steel Frame Build
The Moment We've Been Waiting For: DIY Camper Frame Build! In "Building Betsy" Episode 13, the moment many of you (and certainly us!) have been waiting for has arrived: the DIY camper frame build! The lightweight, modular steel frame arrived all the way from Bloemfontein, weighing in at a mere 250kg's. A massive thank you to Zaku, Hansie, and the incredible team at GRS, who helped us get the base assembled in less than an hour. It fit perfectly onto our robust steel floor, marking a huge leap forward for our expedition vehicle habitat! Precision Assembly: Light Steel, Pop-Rivets & Corner Strips This episode showcases the surprisingly quick and efficient assembly process of our light steel frame. Held together with durable stainless-steel pop-rivets and attached to the floor with self-tapping pozi-drive screws, the frame is designed for both strength and ease of construction. GRS went the extra mile, bending custom corner strips from galvanized plate to ensure the entire structure is incredibly rigid and secure. We then took Betsy back to the farm to fabricate the steel rib cage that will house our water bladders, preparing the unit for its final cladding. We're now eagerly looking forward to installing the specially profiled Chromadek, which will further increase the unit's strength. Building for Purpose: A Home on the Road for a Global Mission A huge thank you to Siteform for sponsoring the frame, and GRS for making this crucial part of our build a reality. Their support is invaluable as we push towards our goal: to set off in February of 2023 on the world's first global stem cell donor recruitment drive. This humanitarian mission is in the hopes of finding matches for blood cancer patients in need of stem cell transplants. Your support by watching and subscribing fuels this vital endeavor.
