Calvin's Challenge 2025 WUCA 6 Hour Championship

Welcome to Springfield Ohio; the safe haven of dogs, where their only danger is rushing into Sapim bladed spoke at 30 mph! Calvin's Challenge is the host to the World Ultracycling Association North American 6, 12, and 24 hour Time Trial Championships. I participated in the 6 hour TT and managed to bang out 115 miles over the 6 + hours. I had been training and tinkering on my Quintana Roo for the past 4 months to get ready for this event, but hellacious, gratuitous, offensive, angry, malicious, profound, vehement, frightful, blistering winds forced me to retrofit my ultra trustworthy gravel bike into a TT machine for improved security in the aero position and road hoods/levers when the cross winds demanded it. I managed to consume 80 grams of carbs per hour and downed 350 mg of caffeine at the midway point to ensure proper pacing and a normalized power of 179 watts, an ideal output of low tempo based off of my 240 watt FTP. Due to the insane winds, I legitimately lost 40% of my vision over the last 2 hours, so I'm pleased to report that it has resolved, but I had to hang around for three hours before I felt safe to drive home.
