The beech harvest
I bought a field! In this video I prepare and eat beech nuts. Beech trees spread to Britain at the end of the last ice age, arriving around 6,000 years ago, most likely without human intervention. They are a good source of protein and fat, and have been consumed by humans for centuries. Unfortunately, the beech seed contains several toxins and so it is important that they are cooked to reduce this toxicity. Watch my first (and slightly wayward) forays into preparing these for consumption.
