PARCO NAZIONALE VAL GRANDE – LA “CURVA” DEL FIUME E IL POZZO PIÙ PROFONDO DI TUTTO IL RIO VAL GRANDE

VALGRANDE AS YOU'VE NEVER SEEN IT - A few years ago, Daniele Sabatini, a Carabiniere Forestale serving at the Rovegro station, confided in me. He revealed that the well located just above the "river bend" could be "the deepest in the entire Val Grande." This spot is located exactly beneath the now-collapsed footbridges of the trail that leads from Ponte Casletto to the Velina bridge, a section unfortunately impassable and closed by a 2020 ordinance. As you may have noticed in previous videos, Gianni Barozzi and I have taken several hikes in this area, known as the "river bend," always staying on the left bank of the Rio Val Grande. For those who missed them, I strongly encourage you to watch the old episodes on the channel to fully understand the area we're talking about. Guided by curiosity, a spirit of adventure, and mindful of Daniele's words, I realized I had to close the loop. Drawing on my past experience as a diver, I decided to go see for myself with my young friend Ivan Gnani, also an expert diver. For this exploration, we chose to freedive: a way to be in complete symbiosis with nature's deep breath, lulled by the flowing waters without disturbing the silence of the place. This deep well, nestled between two vertical walls—which the old fishermen of the area, before the current park protection regulations were in place, called "ul puzz negher" (the black well)—now holds no secrets. There is also a peculiar fact linked to this place. Many years ago, this same well aroused such interest that it was explored by a renowned world freediving champion, who relied on the logistical support of the Carabinieri Forestali of the Vogogna Command. It is a source of great pride for me, after all this time, to have been able to follow in his footsteps. I won't reveal the depth... Enjoy!
