Loons Takin' Care of Business - June 7, 2026

Almost every day on Lake Vermilion in far northern Minnesota is spectacular. But for "our" mating loon pair, spotting a bald eagle flying near can ruin everything. On May 15, 2026, the Live LoonCam Team of Vermilion Lake Association began monitoring these loons carefully--Mom Loon laid two eggs and began taking shifts on her nest with Dad Loon. In the first three weeks on their nest, every day was full of adventure. A big thank you to Bill Michaelson, Nancy Swanson, Tom Tamte and Rick Teeter for carefully installing our camera post this year. And to Bill and Tom for re-stringing a new Ethernet cable! We're grateful to Access Broadband of Virginia, Minnesota for the upload power to get our livestream to YouTube. And to the Free Music Archive which makes it possible to add musical touches, in particular on this video, for: *Joyful Story by Puma Tunes, used with CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 International License *Shoreline Echo by Segue Music, used with CC BY-NC 4.0 International License *Last Voyage by Maarten Schellekens, used with CC BY 4.0 International License We are all hopeful as we approach "Hatch Day" in mid-June. -- Noel Sederstrom for the VLA's Live LoonCam Team
