I Cut Open This Failed Scroll Compressor After 900 PSI… Here’s What I Found

Three weeks after this system was running at dangerously high head pressure, the compressor failed and went to ground. Instead of just throwing it away, I cut it open to see what the damage inside could tell us. The condenser fan had previously been running backward, causing the system to operate around 800–900 PSI before shutting down. Inside the compressor, I found very little oil, and what was left was black. Was that extreme pressure event enough to kill it? I’ll walk through what I found and explain my theory.
