OFF-GRID Ready? NOT EVEN CLOSE! What Your JAYCO Sprinter Actually Needs
JAYCO Mercedes Sprinter owners - this video is for YOU! Watch as Jarrod and the team completely transform this JAYCO All Terrain model with a comprehensive Victron system upgrade that fixes all the electrical issues these vans are known for! The original system has been completely ripped out and replaced with a proper off-grid powerhouse featuring 680AH of lithium power from 2x 340AH batteries mounted in a sealed, AS 3001 compliant battery box. The charging capability is absolutely incredible with dual 50A DC chargers delivering over 100A while driving, meaning a completely flat battery system can be fully recharged in roughly 7 hours of driving! The DC chargers are wired to the ignition system so they instantly isolate when the car turns off - no risk of draining your starter battery. The solar setup is seriously impressive with 600W across 3 x 200W panels on the roof rack while still keeping the Gen 2 Starlink, MaxTrax shovel holder, aircon, and awning all mounted up top! A 150A solar controller manages the entire roof array with proper fusing and double pole circuit breakers for full AS 3001 compliance. The system also includes a 3KVA MultiPlus inverter for serious power output, comprehensive Cerbo GX touchscreen display replacing that old Projecta screen, smart signal converter for tank monitoring, and exterior awning lights with tri-colour dimming control. Clever additions include an Anderson plug underneath the vehicle at the front for solar blanket charging of the starter battery (essential since the sliding door runs off starter battery), a new powerpoint added at the rear seat where JAYCO doesn't include one, and proper physical barriers installed between plumbing and electrical areas for compliance. The team also kept the original three-switch panel for hot water, water pump, and isolation. Jarrod demonstrates the system live running both the aircon at 920W and a sandwich press simultaneously, pulling 223A from the batteries with perfectly balanced discharge across both batteries thanks to proper wiring configuration. If you own a JAYCO Sprinter and are experiencing DC charging issues, this is the solution! Never pay for powered sites again and use all your creature comforts completely off-grid. This build shows how JT Electrical Group transforms vehicles with poor factory electrical systems into reliable off-grid powerhouses - perfect for serious adventures!
