The problem highlighted was that while there is much knowledge regarding the management of individual meetings, the "overall meeting structure of a company" is rarely discussed systematically. From this perspective, the hypothesis was presented that several types of meetings exist. The discussion primarily introduced three types: "Cascade-Down Type," "Middle-Up-Down Type," and "Small Group Management Type." The cascade-down model is a top-down structure where goals are broken down and managed; the middle-up-down model is a structure where middle management connects upper and lower levels to concretize strategies; and the small-group management model is a structure where authority is delegated to small units for autonomous operation. The meeting design and dynamics differ significantly for each model, and it was pointed out that if the structure and operation are not aligned, it can lead to increased management burden and dysfunction. In particular, mixing elements of different models can lead to problems such as excessive burden on middle managers.
