If there is one fish that the west coast of Scotland, and Oban in particular, is famous for, it is Skate. Once on the brink of extinction, these goliaths are making a healthy comeback, and numbers are steadily on the rise. Although Skate can be targeted from the shore, and this is a challenge in our plans for the future, it’s nice to, on occasion, charter a boat and place the pressure of finding some fish on the skipper. In this part of the country the name ‘Laura Dawn’ is synonymous with Skate and the deepwater marks of the Firth of Lorne that are home to one of the biggest fish you are likely to catch in British waters. Therefore, on this trip, you join us on Laura Dawn II, owned by the legendary 'Ronnie Campbell' and now skippered by 'Leigh Taylor', as we gear up for a battle or two with these impressively large fish.
