The Leaking Blue Bath & Hidden Graffiti - Renovating Tynemouth Watchtower: Level 3

Dropping down to Level 3... where the windows switch sides, the history gets personal, and we tackle a 1980s design icon! 🏰🔵🛁 Welcome to Episode 3. For this week's tour, we are exploring Level 3. This floor completely shifts the architectural rhythm of the tower, moving the views to the sunny south side, but its current layout holds the ultimate piece of 1980s nostalgia—and some incredible hidden secrets. PAST 📜 Level 3 is wrapped in local legend. For years, rumours swirled that this floor hosted some legendary, wild parties through the decades—with whispers that even Jimi Hendrix himself might have visited back in 1967! While we finally put that rock-and-roll myth to bed, we did uncover some real history. Thanks to a prompt from our Heritage Officer, we discovered actual graffiti hidden inside a cupboard, however, we're pretty sure it isn't wartime graffiti from the language used. 📑✏️ PRESENT 🚽 Today, this floor is home to our social media famous, all-blue 1980s bathroom suite—complete with a sunken corner bath, blue pedestal sink, and matching toilet. While it looks iconic on screen, living with it pre-renovation has been a total challenge. The cracked sunken bath leaks like a sieve, the blue sink shows toothpaste stains instantly, and the rotting wood-panelled shower has required some serious DIY triage just to keep us going until the builders arrive! 🛠️🔵 FUTURE 🛏️ The big plan for Level 3? It’s transitioning from a bathroom into a clever, space-saving bedroom. We are squeezing a compact ensuite into the corner, topped with loft-style storage. Over where the sunken bath currently sits, we are building an epic raised bed platform. To maximize the space, the entire wardrobe, chest of drawers, and desk will seamlessly pull out from underneath the bed, with steps on either side so no one has to clamber over each other to get into bed. 📐✨ 0:00 Intro: Welcome to Level 3 0:08 The Past: Debunking the Jimi Hendrix Myth & Finding Graffiti 2:35 The Present: The Reality of the Famous 1980s Blue Sunken Bath 5:32 The Future: Pull-Out Furniture Platforms & Stacking Ensuites Subscribe to see what happens when we drop down to Level 2 next week to check out the next stage of our coastal watchtower layout! 🗼🌊 Watch the 24/7 Live 4K Webcams here:    / @ourtowerhome   #OurTowerHome #WatchtowerRestoration #Tynemouth #BathroomRenovation #SmallSpaceLiving #Architecture #RenovationLife
