First Wooden Fishing Lure Build | Using Minimal Tools | Wooden Fishing Lure Tutorial

🎣 Hi guys, thanks for tuning in and welcome back to another lure building video! Today is a very special one because I’m finally building my first wooden fishing lure. When I first got into lure making, wooden lures were actually what inspired me to start. At the time however I didn’t have the tools or workshop space to work with wood and 3D printing gave me an easy way to enter the hobby. Fast forward to today and I still don’t have a fully equipped woodworking shop, so I decided to see what could be achieved using only basic tools and a bit of creativity. This will be a true “minimal tool” wooden lure build. The only tools used in today’s project are: 🪵 Jigsaw 🪵 Drill 🪵 Rotary tool 🪵 Belt sander 🪵 Utility knife 🪵 Sandpaper & "elbow grease" Starting with a simple block of wood from my local hardware store we will turn it into a functional fishing lure blank and go through every major step of the process. In this video we cover: ✅ Designing the lure shape ✅ Cutting and carving the blank ✅ Sanding and refining the profile ✅ Installing hardware ✅ Sealing the wood ✅ Weighting the lure My goal with this build is to show that you don’t need expensive machines to start building your own fishing lures. One thing I learned very quickly is how enjoyable wood is to work with. It’s a completely different experience compared to 3D printing and it gave me a whole new appreciation for lure builders who specialize in handmade wooden lures. Unlike plastic, wood is a natural material. Every piece has its own grain structure, density and characteristics that influence the final lure and its action in the water. Because of that creating a consistently running lure can actually be quite a challenge. I genuinely loved the process and I’m already looking forward to next week’s video where we will finish the lure and hopefully test it in the river if the weather cooperates.
