Tuchel crasht Mbappé-Interview, Deschamps sagt "Danke" | Frankreich - England 4:6
Tuchel crashes Mbappé interview, Deschamps says "thank you" | France - England 4-6 In a memorable bronze medal match, England achieved their best World Cup result in 60 years. Despite a 4-0 halftime lead, the Three Lions had to sweat it out against France until the final whistle. Didier Deschamps would naturally have preferred to end his 14-year tenure in Sunday's final, but that would have required a better performance in the semi-final against Spain (0-2). France, therefore, hoped for their third World Cup bronze medal after 1958 (6-3 against Germany) and 1986 (4-2 after extra time against Belgium). "None of my players and none of the French players want to play this match," Thomas Tuchel had aptly stated beforehand. The English national coach faced heavy criticism after the 1-2 semi-final defeat against Argentina, as his team became increasingly passive in the closing stages – partly due to defensive substitutions. For the bronze medal match in Miami, both coaches rotated their squads, making seven changes each to their starting eleven. However, they took different approaches: while France retained their four pillars Maignan, Rabiot, Olise, and Mbappé, England benched, among others, first-choice goalkeeper Pickford, Bellingham, and captain Kane. Contrary to their coach's pronouncements, the Three Lions made it clear early on that they were not going to leave Miami without a bronze medal. Just three minutes in, Rice gave England the lead, intercepting a pass from Doué and then curling a shot from 18 meters into the right corner. While England controlled the game and repeatedly threatened, France waited for counter-attacking opportunities but failed to capitalize on them. Instead, Tuchel's team extended their lead after a Rice corner, which Konsa headed into the net (18'). It was England's fifth headed goal and their third from a corner in the tournament – both individual bests. The French, through Mbappé, showed signs of life afterward, but the top scorer remained unlucky (22'/28'). Thus, he failed to take the lead in the race with Argentina's Messi for the Golden Boot. Meanwhile, the lack of precision in the final third was the least of Les Bleus' problems in this memorable first half. Rather, their play off the ball was shockingly careless and listless. The result: Immediately after a double chance for Rashford and Saka, the latter made it 3-0 for England in the 37th minute. Nine minutes later, Saka added another goal to make it 4-0 at halftime. Even at that early stage, it was the highest-scoring bronze medal match since the 2010 World Cup between Germany and Uruguay (3-2). How did the French react to the four-goal deficit? With four substitutions at halftime – and two quick goals. Mbappé, who, like his provider Olise, had stayed on the pitch, opened the scoring. The captain fired a precise left-footed shot into the net (48th minute), putting him at the top of the World Cup scoring charts. But that wasn't all, because Les Bleus were now playing like a completely different team. In the 54th minute, Mbappé sent substitute Barcola through on goal, leaving Quansah unable to catch him. From close range, the substitute then fired the ball decisively into the net to make it 4-2. As the game progressed, the action in Miami developed into an open, end-to-end affair, with France now firmly believing in a major upset. Belief grew even stronger when Mbappé scored his tenth tournament goal in the 66th minute after a one-two with Olise. Suddenly, Les Bleus were just one goal away from equalizing. But the French were not to be, not least because Olise squandered two excellent chances (75th/81st minute). Anyone who thought Saka's converted penalty in the 87th minute would seal the victory was once again mistaken. Because in stoppage time, both teams still had more in store. After Dembélé scored to make it 4-5 from a pass by Upamecano (90+6), substitute Bellingham finally put the finishing touch on an incredibly entertaining match. ► Subscribe to the channel so you don't miss any more videos! ``` Follow us on our other social media channels: ► Instagram: / kicker ► Facebook: / kickeronline ► Twitter: / kicker_bl_li ► TikTok: https://tiktok.com/kicker Our offers: ► kicker App for iOS and Android: https://hyperurl.co/kickerapp ► Website: https://www.kicker.de ► kicker eSport: https://esport.kicker.de
